Child Care

Avesta has a well-established programme of child care facilities, including preschool nurseries, family nurseries, after-school recreational centres, a Montessori and an independent preschool. Usually we can place your child in a child care facility without queuing for long. Avesta municipality is also working on reducing the size of children’s groups in the facilities. Placement is offered for the period of time needed, calculated on parents’ study and work schedules including travelling time to and from your place of study or work.

Preschool nurseries are for children aged 1- 5 years, offering an environment where all activities for children are intertwined, playing and learning being equally important for a child’s development.
Children aged 6-12 years in need of care before or after the school day can be placed in recreational centres at or close to the school. School children who need care solely during school holidays can also apply.

Placements are offered according to the date of registration, parents’ wishes, closeness to the home and the composition of the group already at the facility. A placement offer is sent out as soon as a place becomes available, and should be signed by the legal guardian and returned at the latest by the date stated on the offer.
