Fees for child care

Fees are calculated as a percentage of the gross monthly declared income of the household, and based on the number of children from the same household in municipal or private child care and recreational centres.

Fees for kindergarten and family day nursery:
Child 1: 3 % of income – maximum 1 260 SEK per month
Child 2: 2 % of income – maximum 840 SEK per month
Child 3: 1 % of income – maximum 420 SEK per month
Child 4: Free of charge

Fees for after-school recreational centres:
Child 1: 2 % of income – maximum 840 SEK per month
Child 2: 1 % of income – maximum 420 SEK per month
Child 3: 1 % of income – maximum 420 SEK per month
Child 4: Free of charge
The youngest child in the family counts as ”Child 1”.

Contract placement

A contract placement is available for school children who only need care during school holidays and teachers’ study days.
Applications are to be made on the special form available from the Preschool/ School Office.

Calculation base

The fee is based on the total income of the household, whether single parent or married couple. We regard as the equivalent of a married couple:
*Man and woman living together who either have (or have had) common children or who are registered as living at the same address.
*Persons of the same sex living together who are registered as living at the same address.

Fees are to be paid by the parents/ legal guardians. The fees for couples are based on the total income of the household, whether or not the children are the biological offspring of both parents. If the biological parents do not live together but have shared guardianship, each parent will be charged separately for his/her care need.

Fees are based on the following forms of gross income:
Salary and other benefits from employment
Remuneration as a family home parent
Pension (not including child pension)
Annuities (with some exceptions)
Parental leave benefit
Care benefit for children (not including expenses)
Short- and long-term sickness benefit
Jobseekers’ allowance
Training allowance for labour market training
Family allowance
Allowances for recurrent military training

If the above are not applicable, as in the case of the self-employed, fees may be calculated on the basis of declared income or after individual evaluation.
