Carl Jularbo Museum
Carl Jularbo museum is situated in a 1700th century building with white stucco walls in Gamla Byn in Avesta. The house has in old times been used as bakery, laundry and lodging for widows. The museum was opened on June 6, in 1993 on the 100 year´s birthday celebration of Carl Jularbo.

Here you can study Carl Jularbo´s life from childhood to his career as the king of accordian players. Here you can also find a unique collection of antique accordians.

The museum is built up around three environments.

The first one represents a kitchen in Östanbyn, where Kalle Karlsson, which the future accordian virtuoso was called as a child, grew up. There you can not only get to know Carl Jularbo´s growing up environment but also something about the origin of accordians.

Room number two shows an open-air dance floor and describes the countryside of Sweden and the touring that Calle Jularbo was to give his life to.

The third environment reflects a big city, to be more precise, Gamla Stan, "Old Town", in Stockholm, where Calle Jularbo moved as a 17-year-old boy.

This museum is dedicated to Sweden’s best accordian player, throughout time, and one of our greatest and most skilled musicians. The Scandinavian record of recorded record titles is still his, 1577 pieces. He won 158 accordian competitions, made a vast number of radio performances and folkpark performances and also wrote about 70 own compositions, still played today. Carl Jularbo´s way of playing is still unsurpassed and his technique is impossible to imitate. Furthermore his music ear and tone memory was so sure, that he, despite his unbelievable repertoire, never needed to learn notes.

Connected to the museum are a café and a shop. In the café homebaked bread is always served, which can be enjoyed in a cosy old-fashioned environment, indoor or outdoor. Those who wish can borrow an accordian and enhance the atmosphere for a while. The shop is run by the small traders association. There you can buy goods made by craftsmen from Avesta and surrounding areas.
